# Mobile device requirements (Android and iOS)

This page is for administrators who choose devices and for anyone setting up a phone or tablet for the Venzeo™ mobile app.

## Operating system

On Android 7 and 8, or with Google Play services older than 20.50.16, the app still works, but its reports get no certification label at all in the web interface.

## Requirements for certified reports

Venzeo™ checks every report. A report is **Certified** only when the device that sent it meets all of these requirements. If one of them fails, the report shows **Warning!** instead:

- **Samsung Galaxy Store and other app stores:** reports from these copies of the app are not certified, because the Google Play licence check passes only for apps installed from Google Play.
- **Sideloaded copies** (installed from a file): the app shows **App Install Source** and asks you to reinstall Venzeo™ from the official store.
- **Wrong device clock:** the app shows **Inaccurate Time**. If the clock is more than 24 hours off, reports show **Warning!**. Turn on automatic date and time to keep the clock correct.
- **Huawei and other devices without Google Play services** cannot pass the Google Play Integrity check, so their reports are not certified.

An NFC reader is needed only if your organisation uses NFC tags.

## Recommended devices

- **Android phones:** Samsung XCover 5, XCover Pro, A52, A72, S21, S21+, S22, S22+, Fold; Caterpillar CAT S42, S42 H+, S52, S62; Motorola G10, G30; Google Pixel; Oukitel WP12 (low cost), WP13, WP15 (biggest battery), WP17.
- **Android tablets:** Samsung Galaxy Tab Active, A7 LTE, A7 Lite LTE, A8 LTE, S6 LTE, S7 LTE, S7 5G.
- **iPhone and iPad:** any model that runs iOS or iPadOS 16.6 or newer, for example iPhone 8, iPhone SE (2nd generation) or newer.
- **Not recommended:** Huawei, Xiaomi, Realme, Honor, OnePlus, ZTE, OPPO, Vivo and Lenovo, because of security risks or a poor user experience.

## Phone number and SIM card

A device with a SIM card and phone number can be activated by SMS or by QR code. A device without a SIM card, such as a Wi-Fi-only iPad, can be activated by QR code. See [Activating the mobile app on a device](https://help.venzeo.com/en/article/activating-mobile-app).
