## What uses mobile data

| Data | Size and behaviour |
| ----------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Photos | Most of the data. Each photo is resized and saved as a JPEG. The default for an organisation is 1600 pixels on the longer side at 75% quality, and your organisation's settings may differ. A Venzeo™ Request can set its own photo size for each step, and a higher **Preferred photo resolution** in the app settings makes photos larger |
| Report details | Tags, location, time and notes are sent as small text data with each report |
| When data is sent | Each photo is sent as soon as it is processed and the device is online. There is no Wi-Fi-only setting: the app uses Wi-Fi or mobile data, whichever is available |
| Offline data | Places of interest, projects and assets are downloaded for offline use only when your organisation uses them offline. After the first download, only changes are downloaded |
| App updates | Downloaded from Google Play or the App Store, not by the Venzeo™ app |

The size of a photo depends on what it shows, so Venzeo™ does not give a fixed size per report.

## Estimate the data plan for a device

1. Use the device for one normal working week.
2. In the device settings, open the mobile data usage and find how much data the Venzeo™ app used.
3. Multiply that number by five. This gives a monthly figure with some reserve.

## Working offline

The app also works without an internet connection. Reports saved offline are sent automatically when the device is back online or when the app is opened again.

A mobile data plan is still recommended: with one, web users see new reports immediately instead of when the device next reaches Wi-Fi.

## Save mobile data

- **Update apps over Wi-Fi only.** In Google Play or the App Store settings, let apps update automatically over Wi-Fi only. See [Updating the Venzeo mobile app](https://help.venzeo.com/en/article/update-venzeo-mobile-app).
- **Keep streaming on Wi-Fi.** If the data plan is meant for the Venzeo™ app only, ask colleagues to watch videos and stream music only on Wi-Fi.

For which phones and tablets are supported, see [Mobile device requirements (Android and iOS)](https://help.venzeo.com/en/article/requirements-of-the-mobile-device-android-and-ios).
