Managing places of interest

A place of interest (POI) can represent:

• any stationary object, for example a bin location, a billboard or a BTS tower;
• a customer with a fixed GPS location;
• an order with an exact GPS location.

Each POI has a Name, an address, a GPS (lat, lon) position and an optional Note. Only administrators manage POIs.

Where to find it

Open the main menu, expand Place Of Interest (POI) and choose Manage POIs. The page is called Places of interest (POI).

Turn places of interest on

Places of interest are optional. If they are off, the Place Of Interest (POI) category sits in the Inactive part of the main menu.

1. Open the category and choose Manage POIs.
2. Click Activate Place of interest functionality. The first 100 places of interest are included in your license.

Once they are on, choose under POIs are: how reporters use them:

• Required: reporters must attach a place of interest to every report;
• Optional: reporters can attach one if they want;
• Disable POI: turns the feature off again (you are asked to confirm).

Add a place of interest

1. Click Create new place of interest.
2. Fill in the fields:
   • Custom ID: your own code, for example a depot number. Leave it empty and Venzeo generates one.
   • Name: what your team calls the place.
   • Note: internal details. Only administrators see it, reporters do not.
   • The address: Country, Street, City, Administrative area 2 (district) and Administrative area 1 (region). Start typing a street and pick a suggestion to fill in the city, region and GPS for you.
   • The position: click the map, or type the coordinates into GPS (lat, lon). Every place of interest needs a GPS position.
3. Click Save.

Edit or deactivate a place of interest

Click Edit next to a place of interest to change it. To hide it from reporters, click Deactivate in the pop-up and confirm with Yes.

Inactive places of interest are not shown in the Venzeo™ mobile app, so no new report can be attached to them. Existing reports keep them, and you can still use them to filter reports. Turn on Show inactive Places of Interest and click Reactivate to bring one back.

Places of interest in the mobile app

Reporters see all active places of interest in the mobile app. They can search them, for example by name or custom ID, and attach one place of interest per report.

To see reports grouped by place, open the main menu and choose Places of Interest view under Reports.

Tip: Have many places of interest in another system, such as a CRM or asset register? There is no file import in the web interface, but a developer can keep them in sync automatically through the Venzeo External API. Open the main menu and choose API for developers > Show API documentation.
