The Venzeo™ mobile app runs on most current Android and Apple devices. For the best experience, and so that your reports can be certified, the device should meet the requirements below.
Android phones and tablets
Minimum
- Android 9 or newer. Reports from older Android versions cannot be certified.
- Google Play and Google Play Services. Some Huawei and unbranded devices do not have them and are not supported.
- 1 GB of RAM.
- A back camera with at least 2 MP.
- NFC reader.
- Mobile data (3G or better), or Wi-Fi.
Recommended
- Android 11 or newer.
- Google Play and Google Play Services.
- 2 GB of RAM or more.
- 32 GB of storage, with at least 5 GB free.
- A wide-angle back camera with at least 4 MP, autofocus and an LED flash.
- A battery of at least 3500 mAh, or a case with a built-in extra battery.
- Dust and water protection (IP64, IP68) if the device is used outdoors. A protective cover helps if it falls.
- Accelerometer and compass.
- NFC reader.
- 4G mobile data or better.
Recommended Android phones
- Samsung XCover 5, XCover Pro, A52, A72, S21, S21+, S22, S22+, Fold
- Caterpillar CAT S42, S42 H+, S52, S62

Not recommended
Huawei, Xiaomi, Realme, Honor, OnePlus, ZTE, OPPO, Vivo and Lenovo, because of security risks or a poor user experience.
iPhone and iPad
iOS or iPadOS 15.2 or newer.
Recommended devices:
- iPhone SE, 6S, 7, 8, X, XR, XS, 11, 12, 13, 14 or newer
- iPad Mini 4, Air 2, Pro or newer
Phone number and SIM card
A device with a SIM card and phone number can be activated by SMS or by QR code. A device without a SIM card, such as a Wi-Fi-only iPad, can be activated by QR code. See Activating the mobile app on a device.
Settings required for certified reports
- Install the app from Google Play, Samsung Galaxy Store or the App Store. Reports from apps installed another way are not certified.
- Do not root or jailbreak the device, and keep developer options turned off on Android.
- Do not use apps that fake your GPS location.
- Turn on automatic date and time (network-provided time) in the device settings. A wrong device clock can cause connection errors and prevents reports from being certified.
Tips
Tip: Buy one device of a new model first and test Venzeo on it before you order more.
- For longer battery life, use a compatible case with a built-in battery.
