Uploading reports from a CSV file

Create up to 1,000 web reports at once from a CSV file, with photos, location, status and tags (previously called types).

Any user with web access can upload reports. If you don’t see Create web report in the Reports menu, ask support@venzeo.com to turn on web reports.

Prepare the file

  1. Open the main menu and, under Reports, choose Create web report. The Create Web Report pop-up opens.
  2. Choose Create multiple web reports via CSV.
  3. Click Download Example CSV or Download Example XLSX to get a template with every column.
  4. Fill in one row per report below the column names.
  5. Save the file as CSV, also when you started from the XLSX template. The limit is 10 MB and 1,000 rows.

What each column needs

Keep every column, even when it is empty.

Column Content
number_ascending A number per row: 1, 2, 3 …
photo_urls_delimited_by_comma 1–20 public photo links, comma-separated
tag_venzeo_ids Required: tag IDs, comma-separated
status_venzeo_id Status ID; empty means the default status
timestamp_in_ms Photo time in milliseconds since 1970 (UTC), not in the future; empty means now
timezone_numeric_offset For example +0100; empty means +0000
gps_latitude, gps_longitude Required in every row, never 0
note, address_… Note and address
poi_custom_id, project_custom_id Optional columns: custom ID of a place of interest (POI) or project

To find an ID, filter the report list by that tag or status: the address bar then shows types=<id> or states=<id>. Otherwise, ask support@venzeo.com.

Required places of interest mean every row needs a known poi_custom_id; optional ones, a poi_custom_id or an address. Leave columns of turned-off features empty. Unknown project IDs are ignored.

Note: The upload cannot attach assets, so the check fails when your organisation requires them. Use the form instead.

Upload and check the file

  1. In the pop-up, drag the file onto Drag and drop your CSV file here, or click that area and select it. Venzeo™ shows the rows found, or a Validation Errors list such as Row 3: Missing tag IDs. The column names are row 1, so your first report is row 2.
  2. Correct every listed problem and select the file again. Process CSV file stays unavailable until no errors remain.
  3. Click Process CSV file and keep the pop-up open until it finishes.

The pop-up closes, the report list opens and a message says how many reports were created from CSV.

Continue after processing stops

Processing stops at the first report that cannot be created. Processing Failed lists the number_ascending values of the reports already created under Successfully processed reports.

Warning: Those reports already exist, and Process CSV file restarts from the first row. Delete their rows first, or Venzeo™ creates them twice.

To create a single report with the form, see Creating a report on the web.
