A closing tag is the one tag (previously called a type) that completes a task: as soon as a report attached to the task has that tag, Venzeo™ marks the task as Completed. An administrator chooses the closing tag for each task.
What completes a task
A task is completed when a report attached to the task has the closing tag:
- A reporter sends a report for the task from the Venzeo™ mobile app with the closing tag.
- Someone creates a report for the task on the web with the closing tag.
- An administrator edits a report on the task and adds the closing tag. For example, the report has the tags A, B and C and the closing tag is D: once D is added, the task is completed.
- An administrator attaches a report that already has the closing tag to the task. If the report moves from one task to another, only the new task is completed.
- An administrator sets the closing tag on a task that already has an attached report with that tag.
Reports that are not attached to the task never complete it, even when they have the tag. A deactivated report never completes a task.
What “Completed” means
- The task shows a Completed badge in the task list and in the Task View. The change appears right away, without reloading the page.
- The task disappears from the Venzeo™ mobile app the next time the app syncs.
- The task stays editable, and its reports stay attached.
What does not change a completed task
Completion is permanent until an administrator changes it. Removing the closing tag from the report, or detaching the report, does not reopen the task.
When an administrator switches a task back to Not completed, the task appears in the mobile app again. The task is completed again only by a new trigger: a new report with the closing tag, an administrator adding the tag to a report, or attaching a tagged report. Edits to a report’s other details do not complete the task again.
Which tasks can complete automatically
Only in-app tasks have a closing tag. One-time Venzeo™ Requests sent by SMS keep their own flow and lock themselves when the request is submitted.
Tip: Choose a closing tag that reporters only pick when the work is really done, such as
FixedorAfter.
